It is considered to be the largest fork on the table. That is why it is placed in the middle of all forks. All the remaining forks are placed right or left to it. Knife Placement:
With a salad fork having a thick left tine, there is no knife placed on the table. As the fork itself is sufficient in eating the salad. However, a knife is compulsory with a dinner fork. It is placed on the right side of a dinner fork.
Fork Placement:
A salad fork is placed on the left or right of the dinner fork, according to the serving order of courses. A dinner fork is placed in the center of the set of forks.
